At the end of March we hosted the latest Perjantai Klubi.

The latest Perjantai Klubi
This time we had the quickest set-up with all hands “on gear”. Oonu was on sound and did a fantastic job. Even some people in the audience complimented the balance of a full band gig in Ari’s space.
Although Ari extended the stage in width, there was less space for us to set up, since he also acquired an upright Piano for their singalong nights. We love our cozy, close standing set ups in general. This time we got to huddle even closer together – but somehow still managed to not trip over each other.
Originally we had planned to perform with several guest artists, but the ones nearby couldn’t make it. Instead Ewa traveled all the way from Poland to be our guest singer for the night. This was the first time that we played two sets, supporting Ewa in her cover songs as well. We ended up with half originals and half cover songs, playing 18 songs that night.
The theme of the night was “Memories”. Eli picked this theme around the topic of the original song “Polaroid”, which describes the story around deep family trauma and a reminder that history should not repeat itself in set dynamics. Here is the first verse + chorus as little insight:
“Memories come and go. Don’t get lost here, lost here. I’m stuck in a twilight zone of waiting – try not to hesitate it. I put it all aside. I’m so tired of bathing in my own weakness
But I won’t let the story repeat itself. I won’t burn the pictures. As I walk through the dark floors of lost good times, I won’t burn the pictures.”
It was especially meaningful for her, since Ewa and Eli shared a birthday one day before the gig on the 27.03. Polaroid is Eli’s personal reminder, that aging is a privilege. In that regard the week of the gig was not only a preparation/practice week, but also a celebration time. Eli got to share her story and even Taavi stepped up to share a bit of his memories on being bullied. Even with the heavy topics at hand, we had lots of fun again and Ewa did an amazing job on her cover songs.

After the gig, we brought all our gear downstairs to clear the stage for the karaoke crowd and had a fun feedback + food time with Oonu, Ewa and Joonas. Besides all the prep and work, those times are a highlight to bond and get to know each other a bit better. We are looking forward to do more gigs in the future!
And speaking of which, Ewa is back in Finland to join the upcoming Perjantai Klubi again. This one is all around the theme “Blues – Surkeus”. Ewa steps in singing and playing the Keys, because Jordan and Eli are traveling to Germany for some family celebrations.
Instead of ColourCollide, the crew will be “CollidedKarol”, including also Okko on Vocals and Tomi on Guitars and Mandolin!
As for the special guest artist, Thomas Ahola Will perform his set. You don’t want to miss it.
